Roy matriculated from Northcliff High School with a University Exemption (7 subjects). He studied a BSc Natural Sciences @ Rand Afrikaans University (now UJ) and has also completed numerous Management & Leadership Courses over the years.
His first job was for De Beers Research LABS as a Researcher from 1979 – 1981. Thereafter Roy joined Anglo American Coal Division and was there until 1988. Employed first as a Metallurgical Process Engineer he then reached Assistant Plant Superintendent Level by 1986 @ Goedehoop Colliery.
Roy joined Multotec (Pty) Ltd in 1988 and was appointed Director in Multotec Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd from 2003 to 2007. Thereafter he was appointed Director in Multotec Australia (Pty) Ltd in 2007. He has been part of the Executive Management Team of Multotec (Pty) Ltd from 2003 until now and is a Multotec Pension Fund Trustee from 1995 to 2016 (Converted to Advisory Board) and is a member of the SACPS Committee.
Roy’s current position is Vice President Screening Media Global at Multotec.
Roy will formally be awarded the Coal Person of the Year at the next Annual Awards Dinner.
